Hillary Prugh Carls, a Bozeman attorney, has practiced law in Montana since 2006. She is a partner at the law firm of Angel, Coil & Bartlett where she primarily focuses on litigation for her clients, specializing in personal injury, insurance disputes, and criminal defense. Hillary Prugh Carls is licensed to practice law in the State of Montana, the Montana Supreme Court, the United States District Court of Montana, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to joining Angel, Coil & Bartlett, she was law clerk to the honorable Chief Judge Robert Coats of the Alaska Court of Appeals. In 2005, she earned her J.D. and Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law at the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Notably, while at Lewis and Clark, she was an associate editor of Environmental Law, Lewis and Clark’s law review and received the Cornelius Honor Society Award. She earned her B.A. from Montana State University, in Bozeman, Montana, where she focused on Business, Marketing in 2001. While at Montana State University, she played four years of varsity golf for the Bobcats and was an all-conference player in the Big Sky Conference.
In addition to becoming partner at the Bozeman law firm of Angel, Coil & Bartlett, Hillary Prugh Carls is also a member of the Montana Bar Association, the Gallatin County Bar Association, the Montana Trial Lawyers Association, the American Society of Legal Advocates, the National Trial Lawyers, and the National Academy of Jurisprudence. In 2012, Hillary Prugh Carls was selected to the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 in Montana. In 2013, Hillary Prugh Carls was selected as a Top 40 Litigation Lawyer Under 40 in the State of Montana by the American Society of Legal Advocates. Most recent, in 2016, Hillary Prugh Carls was recognized as one of 100 Premier Trial Attorneys in the state of Montana by the National Academy of Jurisprudence.
Hillary Prugh Carls has served on the board of the directors of the Montana Ballet Company, Keystone Conservation, and Bridger Care, Inc. (formally known as Bridger Clinic, Inc.).
In her spare time, Hillary Prugh Carls enjoys skiing Bridger Bowl, mountain biking and hiking the trails of southwest Montana, and river trips on the Yellowstone River with her husband, son, and their three dogs.
